Sukiennice is one of the most characteristic buildings in the Main Market Square. In this place, merchants from across the continent sold goods that would still be considered luxurious today. The Sukiennice market hall is still bustling with life, and in its arcades, one can find traditional Polish crafts - amber jewelry, ceramics, embroidery, and handmade souvenirs. On the upper floor is the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art, full of works by Matejko, Malczewski, and Wyczółkowski. If you look closely, you will notice grotesques on the facade of the building - grotesque sculptures whose facial expressions reportedly change depending on the time of day.
